Aadhar card number is a 12 digit unique identification number (UID) issued by UIDAI to every Indian resident which has many benefits. In addition to this, a customer can also link Aadhar number to the bank account and avail`various benefits.

For this, account holder needs to provide consent for seeding his/her Aadhar card number to their bank account. Both the new and existing customers can link Aadhar and Bank account.

For those who don’t have a bank account, opening a new bank account has also become easier with Aadhar. Aadhar letter provided by UIDAI is now acceptable by banks as a valid proof to open a new account.

In fact, it can also serve as an address proof if the current residence of the person applying for the account is the same as that of the Aadhar card. It also reduced the hassle of providing a bunch of documents to the banks for opening an account.

According to UIDAI, “Establishing a link between an Aadhar number and a bank account makes it easy for the government to identify genuine beneficiaries and route welfare payments and subsidies directly into their bank accounts”.

People often get confused with the process of linking Aadhar number with bank account number. The process is actually quite easy and can be completed easily.
