Submission date for digital life certs increased to Feb 28

The pensioners will now have to submit digital life certificates (DLC) to the pension office in order to get their dues.

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in New Delhi has directed the sub-regional offices not to accept life certificates in a paper. The deadline for doing this has been extended to February 28.

“A pensioner can give digital life certificate until February 28. We have got the command from EPFO head office in New Delhi along with a copy of the Gazette notification dated January 4, 2017, regarding submission of DLC for pensioners.

This earlier deadline for this was January 15. EPFO will not accept Life certificates in paper form,” said an officer from the regional office.

He adds the EPFO had already joined the vast network of over 2 lakh Common Service Centres (CSC) across the country and the pensioners would have to give life certificate digitally before February 28 either at CSC or at bank branches providing the facility or EPFO office.
“In case, the pensioners don’t submit their DLC; their monthly pension will be stopped from February 2017.
For registration, pensioners should bring Aadhar card, bank passbook, PPO No, and mobile phone. Registration of DLC has to be done through www.Jeevanpramaan.gov.in software for linking Aadhar card,” he said.
Regional provident fund commissioner, Arun Kumar has requested all pensioners to register their DLC as soon as possible.
